The Loneliest Whale in the World.
In 2004, The New York Times wrote an article about the loneliest whale in the world. Scientists have been tracking her since 1992 and they discovered the problem: She isn’t like any other baleen whale. Unlike all other whales, she doesn’t have friends. She doesn’t have a family. She doesn’t belong to any tribe, pack or gang. She doesn’t have a lover. She never had one. Her songs come in groups of two to six calls, lasting for five to six seconds each. But her voice is unlike any other baleen whale. It is unique—while the rest of her kind communicate between 12 and 25hz, she sings at 52hz. You see, that’s precisely the problem. No other whales can hear her. Every one of her desperate calls to communicate remains unanswered. Each cry ignored. And, with every lonely song, she becomes sadder and more frustrated, her notes going deeper in despair as the years go by. Just imagine that massive mammal, floating alone and singing—too big to connect with any of the beings it passes, feeling paradoxically small in the vast stretches of empty, open ocean.

Blown Away
I’m reading a gem of a book now and it’s not my usual go-to classics. It’s actually modern and very rock ‘n’ roll. In fact, music plays a huge part in the characters’ lives in this one as it does in mine. Hahaha.
I’m not even half-way, but I’m so smitten that if it’s only possible to drop everything and read this treasure of a book in one sitting, I would. Jennifer Egan’s A Visit From The Goon Squad is so worth the Pulitzer Prize it got. It’s mind-blowing and life-changing, the type of book that you couldn’t be more thankful that you picked it. This one’s just unbelievably awesome! :)
Saw Dark Shadows and loved it! Johnny Depp was brilliant as the cursed vampire, Barnabas Collins. He certainly knows how to bring the fun in horror. Hahaha, This movie also has the best ensemble cast. Throw in as well Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jonny Lee Miller, Jackie Earle Haley, and Chloe Grace Moretz and it’s guaranteed perfection. The cast was wildly melodramatic, but bonkers funny. It was just so great to watch. Of course, director Tim Burton is just pure genius, He and Johnny are always such a great team.
Not to forget the awesome 70’s inspired soundtrack of the movie, this cover by The Killers of the track Go All The Way originally by the Raspberries is just amazy! Haha.
